KAST review: the stablecoin money app with real cashback in dollars

Independent blog≈ 12 min read

One million users, an $80M Series A, and a Visa card that pays cashback in actual USD instead of loyalty points — KAST has grown into the reference among stablecoin money apps. We break down the account details, the three card tiers, the yield vaults, the fee schedule nobody reads, and where the app honestly falls short.

Our verdict at a glance

KAST is the most complete custodial stablecoin spending app on the market — strongest for people who earn and spend primarily in dollars, weakest when you wander outside that lane. That assessment follows our review of the product, its documentation and fees, together with the user feedback available to us.

What works especially well

  • Cashback paid in USD you can actually spend. Not in points catalogs.
  • USD & EUR account details after KYC: receive ACH, SEPA and wires.
  • Virtual Visa in minutes; Apple Pay & Google Pay from day one.
  • 0% fee on stablecoin deposits (USDT, USDC, USDe and more).
  • Visa Infinite perks on paid tiers: lounges, travel insurance, protections.
  • Serious backing: $80M Series A (QED Investors, Left Lane), 1M+ users.

What to factor in

  • Custodial: the app holds your balance for you. KYC verification required.
  • Cashback is capped per month and tied to tiers. Do the math first.
  • FX fee of 0.5–1.75% on every non-USD purchase.
  • ATM withdrawals cost $3 + 2% and are capped (~$750/day).
  • Premium tier ($1,000/yr) rarely pays for itself on cashback alone.
  • Availability gaps and mixed Android app reviews.
Our bottom line: “KAST's honest pitch is not 'get rich' — it is 'spend your dollars anywhere, and get a real slice back in dollars.' Within that lane, few apps execute better.”

What exactly is KAST?

KAST is a Singapore-based stablecoin money app, founded in July 2024 by a former Circle executive — the company behind USDC. The premise: your money lives as stablecoins (primarily USDC on Solana rails), and KAST wraps a full banking-like experience around it — account details, a Visa card, transfers, yield — through licensed partners. KAST itself states clearly that it is a financial technology company, not a bank.

The traction is real: more than one million users across 170+ countries, close to $5 billion in annualized transaction volume, and an $80 million Series A in May 2026 co-led by QED Investors and Left Lane Capital. In this market, that funding depth matters — it separates KAST from the wave of small card startups.

The pitch in one sentence: hold digital dollars, receive payments like a local in the US or EU, and spend anywhere Visa is accepted — 150+ million merchants — with cashback credited back in dollars the moment a transaction is authorized.

Get paid like a local: USD & EUR account details

After completing the KYC identity verification (government ID plus a selfie — typically about two minutes via the integrated provider), you receive dedicated virtual account details: a US account and routing number for ACH and wire transfers, and a European IBAN for SEPA. The USD rails run through the payment infrastructure of Bridge with banking services provided by a licensed US partner bank.

Incoming money is automatically converted into digital dollars in your KAST balance — from where you spend it with the card, send it on, or park it in the earn products. For freelancers and remote workers, this is the core value: a US client pays a normal ACH transfer, and minutes later the money is spendable worldwide.

The cards: three tiers, cashback in real dollars

KAST issues Visa cards — virtual within minutes, physical (including metal and gold designs) depending on tier. The virtual card works immediately with Apple Pay and Google Pay; acceptance is standard Visa at 150M+ merchants and millions of ATMs.

The differentiator is the cashback model introduced in 2026: you earn a percentage back in USD — credited the moment the transaction is authorized, spendable like any balance. No points catalogs, no conversion hoops (paid tiers earn KAST Points on top). The rate and the monthly cap depend on your membership tier:

Premium and Private members receive a Visa Infinite card with real network perks: access to 1,200+ airport lounges, travel accident insurance up to $1.5M, 180-day purchase protection and 30-day price protection. That is the strongest perk package in the stablecoin card market — if you actually travel enough to use it.

Most popular
Standard
$0 / year
1.5%
on up to $2,000 spend / month
Free entry: full card + accounts. The sweet spot for everyday spending at or below the cap.
Premium
≈ $1,000 / year
2%
on up to $10,000 spend / month
Visa Infinite card, +1% KAST Points, higher limits. Worth it for the travel perks, rarely for cashback alone.
Private
top tier
3%
on high monthly caps
Gold card, +2% KAST Points on eligible spend, concierge. For very high spenders only.

Tiers, rates and caps as reported in May–July 2026 — KAST has restructured rewards before and can again. Always verify the current terms in the app before upgrading; the math rarely favors paid tiers on cashback alone.

Earn: yield vaults and KAST Points

Idle balances can be moved into earn products: a conservative USD vault (around 3% APY) and a higher-yield vault (up to roughly 7% APY, risk-adjusted strategies managed with professional partners). Yield accrues on digital dollars — useful for money waiting between paycheck and spending.

On top runs the KAST Points program: paid tiers earn points on eligible card spend, which the company positions for future rewards and its token plans. Treat points as a bonus, not as guaranteed value — their future worth is undefined by nature.

Yield is never free: vault returns come from lending and market strategies and are NOT bank interest — they carry counterparty and strategy risk, and none of it is covered by deposit insurance. Only park money there that you could afford to have locked or reduced in a bad scenario.

Getting money in: stablecoins first, everything else works too

The cleanest path is the one KAST is built for: stablecoin deposits at 0% fee — USDT, USDC, USDe and other supported dollar tokens, sent from any exchange or wallet. Over 20 other cryptocurrencies (BTC, ETH, SOL and more) are accepted and auto-converted into your dollar balance at deposit.

From the traditional world: ACH bank transfer (about $2), wire transfer (about $15), straight into your virtual account details. The app shows exactly which network and address it expects for crypto deposits — pick a cheap chain like Solana and depositing costs practically nothing.

Honest criticism: where KAST costs you money or patience

The fee schedule deserves a slow read. Non-USD purchases carry a 0.5–1.75% FX fee — for someone spending mostly in euros, that quietly eats a chunk of the 1.5% Standard cashback. ATM withdrawals cost $3 + 2% plus operator fees and are capped around $750 per day. There is even a small inactivity fee after 12 months of silence. Nothing is hidden, but the marketing leads with cashback, not costs.

The tier math rarely favors upgrading. Premium costs about $1,000 a year; the extra 0.5% cashback over Standard only breaks even at very high spend. The real Premium argument is the Visa Infinite travel package — if you don’t use lounges and insurance, stay on Standard.

It is custodial. KAST and its licensed partners hold the assets for you (secured with institutional custodians); you don’t control the keys. That is the normal model for fintech apps and enables the smooth experience — but it is the opposite philosophy of a self-custody app like Rizon, and it means trusting the company and its partners.

Practical friction exists. Availability has gaps (several major countries are not served), KYC reviews can delay or block access, physical card shipping has historically been slow, and Android app ratings are notably mixed compared to iOS. A polished product, but not a frictionless one.

Common questions

Is KAST a real bank account?

You receive real, working account details in USD (account & routing number) and EUR (IBAN) in your name after completing KYC verification. Incoming money is automatically converted into digital dollars in your KAST balance, which you spend with the card or send on. KAST itself is a financial technology company working with licensed banking and custody partners.

How does the cashback actually work?

You earn a percentage of eligible card spend back in USD — credited the moment the transaction is authorized and spendable immediately. Standard earns 1.5% on up to $2,000 of monthly spend; paid tiers earn 2–3% on higher caps plus KAST Points. Caps and terms can change, so check the app.

What fees should I watch out for?

The big three: the FX fee of 0.5–1.75% on every non-USD purchase, ATM withdrawals at $3 + 2% (capped around $750/day), and the Premium annual fee of about $1,000. Stablecoin deposits are free; ACH costs about $2, wires about $15.

Who holds my money?

KAST is custodial: assets are held through licensed partners and institutional custodians such as Fireblocks and BitGo. You don’t manage private keys — that makes the experience smooth, but it means trusting the company and its partners rather than holding the money yourself.

Which countries does KAST support?

No — KAST is not available in every country, and a big number quoted in marketing doesn't mean your specific country qualifies. KAST's own materials cite a broad figure for where the card works day-to-day, but the countries where you can actually open an account and complete KYC form a narrower, separately-maintained list. On top of that, physical-card shipping is its own question — a country can be fine for the app and virtual card while the physical card still isn't shipped there. The only reliable way to know: start KAST's own signup flow, enter your real country and residency, and check what the app itself confirms — for the account, and separately for the physical card — before you plan around it.

Is the referral code legitimate?

KAST runs an official referral program; signing up through a referral link/code supports this blog (disclosure below every button) and never costs you extra. The code can be entered during registration if the link doesn’t carry it over automatically.

Risk notice

  • Crypto risk: crypto assets, including stablecoins, involve risk up to total loss. Always do your own research BEFORE using any crypto product — understand the asset and the provider first.
  • Network warning: when sending stablecoins, ALWAYS select the correct network shown in the app (e.g. Solana, Ethereum/ERC20, Tron/TRC20). The wrong network can mean permanent, irreversible loss.
  • Custodial risk: your balance is held by the company and its licensed partners. Institutional custody reduces but doesn’t eliminate counterparty risk; balances are not covered by any bank deposit insurance.
  • Stablecoins are issued by third parties (e.g. Circle, Tether) and carry issuer and de-peg risk.
  • Yield products involve lending and market strategies — returns are variable and principal is at risk. Never park money there that you cannot afford to lose.
  • Fees, cashback rates, caps, limits and availability can change at any time — the app's current terms at the moment of use prevail.
  • Not financial advice: this blog is an independent editorial publication for informational purposes only and is not affiliated with KAST.
